Prince Hamlet Jr. by Asia

YO!

I think there are so many versions Hamlet because everyone views things
differently. Depending on the person reading the script of a play, the way that they portray it onto film
depends on the persons own perception of the story. Because many different directors are able to
perceive so many different versions of how Hamlet may have taken place, I believe Hamlet is very versatile.
IN my opinion, Franco Zefferelli's version of Hamlet was most effective.
Though many people my age might prefer Michael Alymereyda's because of the crazy music and
flashy video footage, I believe that that actually took away from the feeling of the monologue.
Though in the second clip it was a little less flashy it was a little too monotonous and
emotionless for my taste. In Zefferelli's version he had so much emotion and
he actually looked as though he
was actually longing for death. He actually looked like he was
asking whether or not he wanted to die. Contemplating suicide takes emotion and i think
that the other directors just didn't grasp that concept.

I think that his monologue is so universal because Hamlet is discussing
things that nobody really thinks about
but everyone can relate to.
No one thinks about why they don't want to kill themselves but
everyone can agree that there is the fear of whats after
death that could stop us from doing it. If a person
really was contemplating death, the things that were running through Hamlets head and flowing out of Hamlets lips
would be the same things that would be running and flowing through mine.
